Terms of Service

Welcome to Hearth Learning. By creating an account or using our platform, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.

1. Account Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and a parent or legal guardian to create a Hearth Learning account. Children cannot create accounts independently. By creating an account, you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of any children who will use this service.

2. Account Responsibility

As the account holder, you are responsible for:

• Maintaining the security of your login credentials.
• Creating and managing student profiles for your children.
• Supervising your children's use of the platform as you see fit.
• All activity that occurs under your account.

3. Student Profiles

Student profiles are created by parents within the family account. We recommend using fun nicknames rather than your children's real names. Each family account may have up to 6 student profiles.

4. The Service

Hearth Learning provides educational practice apps for typing fluency, math facts, and reading comprehension. We strive to keep the platform available and functional, but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may update, modify, or discontinue features at any time.

5. Subscription and Pricing

During the beta period, Hearth Learning is free to use. When paid subscriptions are introduced:

• Pricing and billing terms will be clearly communicated before any charge.
• You may cancel your subscription at any time.
• Payment processing is handled by Stripe, a PCI-compliant third-party payment processor. Payment screens are only accessible to parents, never to children.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the platform for any unlawful purpose.
• Attempt to access other users' accounts or data.
• Reverse-engineer, copy, or redistribute the platform's software or content.
• Use automated tools to scrape or extract data from the platform.

7. Intellectual Property

All content, design, code, and educational materials on Hearth Learning are owned by Hearth Learning LLC. Your use of the platform does not grant you ownership of any content or materials.

8. Data and Privacy

Your use of the platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your data. By using the platform, you consent to the data practices described in our Privacy Policy.

9. Account Deletion

You may delete your account at any time through the Parent Settings panel or by contacting us. Upon deletion, all associated data will be permanently removed within 30 days.

10. Limitation of Liability

Hearth Learning is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by displaying a notice when you next log in. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes will be resolved in accordance with applicable federal and state law.
